Nicely packaged, usually comes with free gift- mine was a small lens cleaning kit.
The camera drains 6 durcell ultra AA batteries within 2 minutes so is completely ineffective in regards to extra power, unless you have an extra canon battery ( it takes up to 2 ).
Thus the AA battery idea is completely pointless. The buttons work OK, not particually a smooth feel to them. In the end its really up to you to decide if you need this or not. You could save the money and buy an actually battery as a spare.

Good cheap alternative. A bit plasticky, and the selection wheel doesn't feel very "solid", but other than that a good product.
Only real drawback is that it doesn't allow the monitoring of battery levels.
