This product is described as being compatible with "virtually" any laptop. On receipt it comes with about 8 "tips" to fit a variety of sockets and voltages and a mini CD showing application lists which exclude my HP Pavillion 2000 laptop. I ran through three other laptop models currently owned by my friends and none of them is compatible. The word "virtually" covers a wide range of possibilities. No matter, othee volatage regulating tips are "available" - but from where? The Kensington website in the UK does not even recognise this model as being a Kensignton product . The US website will bring it up on search but there is no support of "tips" . So this product seems to be either an unsupported import or a obsolete item which is best compatible with virtually any laptop other than those commonly owned by a straw poll of my friends. I sent an email to the supplier asking them to tell me where I can get the correct HP Pavillion 2000 compatible "tip", but have had no response in the last 10 days. My pwn personal "tip" would be to body-swerve this product and this supplier and get a 12v to 240v inverter. Nice concept, great in "Virtual" reality, but in the hard world of "go/no go" it offers more problems than solutions and the supplier has not helped at all.

An excellent idea where the same adaptor can be used to charge a huge range of items. Universal is only as universal as the tips that are available here in the UK. Although I was able to obtain the tip I needed direct from the manufacturer, suppliers this side of the pond are limited.
In use it runs very cool and performs well. Make sure you can obtain the power tip for the laptop you want to use it with before purchase.

This is the perfect product where usage on planes/trains is required without the unecessary cost of a unit that will also run from domestic mains supply.

I bought this about a year ago to enable my 14 inch widescreen notebook to run as a SATNAV when i'm on the road or for general purposes when traveling to foreign climes.
The device is quite light and discrete, it comes with a pouch having separate compartments to keep the 6(?) or so power adaptor tips in, (i'm not going to count them as they are out in the cold darkness of the car right now and i'm nice and warm indoors). In operation the device barely becomes warm and so far mine has been completely reliable, the only thing worth mentioning here that I would change about it is that the power tips should possibly be moulded at right angles so that they protrude less and would thus be less vulnerable to them being knocked and potentially broken, i'm not suggesting that the tips protrude hugely but they do stick out just enough for it to be a design problem in the wrong circumstance, This is because of the fact that the tips (by their nature) are thin and small but are attached to a heavyish device (your laptop) which by its function moves about when you are on the move in your car, knock it at the wrong angle and i would imagine that you would say bye-bye power. Even so i still give it five stars.
